Alaipayuthe -Harini

As I said, I wanted to test the kind of songs that I can sing and the natural next attempt is at a carnatic song from the movie Alaipayuthe...

If rest of the songs were a breeze to learn and record, this song took me nearly 5 hours to learn and record cos inevitably I goofed up in some place during recording and had to rerecord like 22 times...so much for my versatality...:-)

I really feel that I should have taken some classical music lessons after this struggle...better late than never so may be soon??

As always, please leave your comments.

i agree with pradeepettans observation...also i'm kind of wondering if the delay effect is distorting the voice...check that out too...

Well done again. Voice voice is really good ! Not sure if you interacted with Jo about recording/mixing/software etc. He is very helpful. If you need help..he is the guy to go.

This song is a favorite of myself and my daughters. ARR did a great job with this song and it was a hit from the very first time I listened to it.

Technically I am not the person to comment..but from a listener's perspective I liked the singing, voice and the bhavam. Are you formally trained in mucic?

Way to go Ajitha.!!! Great job.!

Kiranz, Anup,
Thanks for visiting and giving your feedback. I hav not yet gotten to recording this song again. Will keep your points in mind when I do that.

Narayanan sir,

I must say that Jo was the one who getting me going in the right direction by guiding me on the tools (mic, s/w etc.). He has been extremely helpful in getting me to this point. Will surely take his inputs on mixing etc., just that I do not want to overburden him.

To answer your question - No. Sadly, I have not been trained in classical music (tho I come from a family of classical music teachers!) Wish I could have learnt formal music, may be soon! Thanks for visiting my blog and providing your comments.

Ajitha,
You have a very good collection of songs. Most of the songs i used to have in my mind. Very passionate as well. Try bring in the mood to the song, it will improve the quality beyond comparison. Keep singing everyday the same song and one fine day you will feel the difference internally. Way to go, voice is nice. Hear more Mridangam or Tabla, then you'll feel the tempo as well.

Regards.
Hari
